Students at the University of Liberia weigh rubber tree wood chips prior to burning them on a small metal stove in a calorimetry experiment to determine whether they might be an adequate source of energy for the west African nation. The experiment was part of a science workshop presented by Harvard chemist Adam Cohen, M.D.-Ph.D. student Benjamin Rapoport, and MIT graduate student Elizabeth Wood.
