Class Day speakers cover comedy, politics
The Class of 2012 will hear from one of popular culture’s rising stars and get a window into the way Washington works when “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) cast member Andy Samberg and Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank speak on Senior Class Day, May 23, in Tercentenary Theatre.
It has played host to farmers markets, seen musical performances, and been the site of a skating rink. Now, the plaza outside Harvard’s Science Center is about to be refurbished, with the goal of transforming it from a pedestrian walkway into a vibrant meeting space for Harvard student, faculty, and staff events, and the surrounding community.

Faculty Council meeting held Feb. 15
At the Feb. 15 meeting of the Faculty Council, its members considered proposals for a Ph.D. program in education and to change the schedule of regular meetings of the Faculty in the rules of faculty procedure. They also met with President Drew Faust to ask and answer questions as representatives of the faculty.

Memorial service for Bernie Wolfman
Harvard Law School will host a memorial Service in honor of Bernie Wolfman on Feb. 3.
Named in honor of Charles William Eliot, president of Harvard from 1869 to 1909, Eliot House was opened in 1931. It was one of the original seven Houses at the College following the plan by Eliot’s successor, Abbot Lawrence Lowell, to “revitalize education and revive egalitarianism at Harvard College.”

Harvard backs bike share program
Harvard University announced it will sponsor five bike share stations in Allston and Longwood as part of a newly launched regional Bike Share program, Hubway. Harvard has also committed to sponsoring four bike share stations in the city of Cambridge when the bike share program expands regionally in Phase II of the initiative.
