Crimson grapplers Jesse Jantzen ’04 and Dawid Rechul ’02 earned All-American honors by finishing in the top eight at the NCAA Championships held March 21-23 in Albany, N.Y.

Jantzen finished third in the 149-pound class, the best national finish by a Harvard wrestler since John Lee captured third place in 1953. Seeded fifth, Jantzen fell in the quarterfinals to eventual national champion Jared Frayer of the University of Oklahoma, but took four matches in the consolation bracket, pinning Jake Percival of Ohio University in the third-place bout.

Rechul placed seventh in the heavyweight division. He lost a close sudden-victory decision to Purdue’s Jake Vercelli in the first round and had to advance through the consolation bracket. The senior reeled off three consecutive victories before falling to John Lockhart of the University of Illinois. Competing in his third NCAA tournament, Rechul finishes his career with a 28-9 mark.
