Incoming HGSE dean on his passion for education

Harvard President Drew Faust introduced James E. Ryan, a leading scholar of education law and policy, who will become the new dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) this fall, at a welcome ceremony in Gutman Library on Monday. Ryan, said Faust, has a “deep understanding and dedication to education and especially to the transformative power of education.”

Ryan, whose work focuses on educational opportunity, has discussed his new role with the Harvard Gazette.
