HMNH PUBLICATION CAPTURES PRIZE

The Harvard Museum of Natural History (HMNH) recently picked up a second-place prize for its “Programs, Lectures, and Events Guide” in the New England Museum Association’s 2008 publications awards competition. The HMNH publication shared the prize with the Fuller Craft Museum of Brockton, Mass. Additionally, HMNH’s “Teachers Guide to School Programs” won an honorable mention in the educational publications, materials, and kits category.

This annual award program recognizes excellence in design, production, and effective communication in all aspects of museum publishing. A panel judged the entries, which included 180 publications from 66 museums in New England.

In other museum news, HMNH is just one of four Massachusetts institutions recently selected for Bank of America’s “Museums on Us” campaign. The program provides free admission to Bank of America cardholders during the first full weekend of every month, all year long. The next two “Museums on Us” weekends are July 5-6 and Aug. 2-3. For more information, call (617) 495-3045 or visit http://www.hmnh.harvard.edu.
