ASLA awards to be conferred on School of Design faculty

 

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) recently named several Graduate School of Design (GSD) faculty members recipients of professional awards. Their work will be officially honored at the ASLA’s annual conference in October.

 

The winning faculty members are as follows:

 

Gary Hilderbrand M.L.A. ’85, adjunct professor of landscape architecture, together with Doug Reed M.L.A. ’81: General Design Award of Excellence for Leventritt Garden at the Arnold Arboretum.

Martha Schwartz DES ’77, professor in practice of landscape architecture: General Design Award for Mesa Arts Center in Arizona. Schwartz will also participate in a panel discussion titled “Newsmakers Roundtable” at the upcoming conference.

Jonathan Levi, adjunct professor of architecture, with Bergmeyer Associates: General Design Award for Harvard Graduate Student Housing.

George Hargreaves M.L.A. ’79, Peter Louis Hornbeck Professor in Practice of Landscape Architecture, with Hargreaves Associates, Award for Analysis and Planning of Hunters Point Waterfront Park in San Francisco.

Additionally, Scheri Fultineer, design critic in landscape architecture at GSD, served as the faculty adviser for the winning project in the student-award category. The design was the Pte Oyate Academy in South Dakota.

 

Riccio appointed co-chair of Bar Association section

 

Frank J. Riccio, a part-time clinical instructor in oral medicine, infection, and immunity at Harvard Dental School, was recently appointed co-chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Health Law Section.

Riccio earned his D.M.D. from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry and his law degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston. He currently practices at the law office of Frank J. Riccio in Braintree, Mass., where he concentrates on civil litigation.

The Massachusetts Bar Association’s Health Law Section is designed to improve the professional competence of attorneys dealing with health-care issues through seminars and publications. It strives to bring together all members interested in the practice and delivery of health care.
