Winning finish caps 7-1 season for men’s water polo

A pair of wins over Iona and Fordham this past Saturday (Oct. 16) in New London, Conn., improved the Harvard men’s water polo team (9-7 overall) to 7-1 in the Northern Division of the Collegiate Water Polo Association. The two-game sweep guarantees the Crimson at least a second-place finish in the division. The Crimson, who beat Iona, 11-9, and Fordham, 10-7, will learn in the coming days whom they will face in the Northern Division championships, to be held Oct. 30-31 at Brown.

Maasdorp’s hat trick treats field hockey to win

Senior midfielder Shelley Maasdorp scored three goals to lift the Harvard field hockey team past Yale, 3-2, this past Saturday (Oct. 16) at Jordan Field. Teammate Kate Gannon ’05 assisted on all three goals in a win that helps the Crimson (8-4, 4-0 Ivy) remain the front-runners in the race for the Ivy title, ahead of second-place Princeton (5-8, 4-1 Ivy) and third-place Penn (9-4, 3-1).
