Stauffer wins Lincoln Prize
John Stauffer, associate professor of English and American civilization, was named a winner of Gettysburg College’s 13th annual Lincoln and E-Lincoln Prizes, given to the best works related to President Lincoln and the Civil War era. Stauffer received second place for his book “The Black Hearts of Men: Radical Abolitionists and the Transformation of Race” (Harvard University Press, 2002).
Bercovitch awarded Fulbright grant
Powell M. Cabot Research Professor of American Literature Sacvan Bercovitch has received a Fulbright Senior Specialists Grant in U.S. studies and literature at the University of Ostrava (Czech Republic). Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the grants – which run from two to six weeks – are offered to leading U.S. academics and professionals to support curricular and faculty development at academic institutions in 140 countries.
