Big Green lacrosse spoils men’s season finale

1 min read

The Harvard men’s lacrosse team dropped its season finale to a visiting Dartmouth squad, 12-6, this past Saturday (May 3) to close out its 2008 campaign two games below .500 (6-8; 1-5 Ivy). Paced by a pair of goals courtesy of senior Zach Widbin, the Crimson built a 4-3 advantage with four consecutive even-strength goals over the first two quarters. Harvard then took a 5-3 lead following a tally by freshman Dean Gibbons in the early going of the third stanza before succumbing to a six-goal rally by the Big Green (7-7; 3-3 Ivy). Dartmouth out-shot the hosts 22 to 16 in the second half en route to netting nine points to overwhelm the Cambridge group, who countered with two goals. The game marked the final outing for eight Harvard seniors.
