Bright Hockey Center plays host to Lobster season

2 min read

World-class professional tennis team the Boston Lobsters is gearing up for another season at Harvards Bright Hockey Center, scheduled for July 6-26. The home of the Lobsters has been modified to include a new cooling system and improved sight lines for a more intimate seating venue than seasons past. This season, special guests and live entertainment are also planned.

“We listened to our fans and made some significant improvements for the 2006 Boston Lobsters season,” said Bahar Uttam, owner of the franchise. “Our fans and sponsors helped make our return to Boston last year such a great success. We want to make sure they experience another season of world-class tennis, entertainment, and family fun.”

Head coach Anne Smith, who led the Lobsters to the eastern conference finals last season, will be returning for the 2006 campaign. Smith herself is competing successfully on the women’s pro tour.

This year’s season opens earlier than previous years, allowing the WTT final to be played immediately following the conclusion of the regular season. The best teams from both the eastern and western conferences (six per conference) will battle for the King Trophy at the WTT finals on July 28-30 in Newport Beach, Calif.

Each team is composed of two men, two women, and a coach. Matches consist of five sets with one set each on men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles.

Season tickets, and family and corporate hospitality packages are now available. Children’s individual match reserved tickets have been reduced to $10 for the 2006 season. Individual match tickets will go on sale in mid-April. To order tickets and for more information, call toll-free 1-877-617-5627, or visit http://www.bostonlobsters.net.
