Armed robbery reported on Harvard and Ware

2 min read

On Nov. 15 at approximately 9:10 p.m., a male undergraduate student reported to the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) that he was the victim of an armed robbery while walking on Harvard Street near Ware Street. The victim stated that he was approached by two males who robbed him of his money and cellular phone. During the robbery a handgun was displayed; the offenders then fled the area in a small red car. The victim was not physically harmed.

One of the suspects is described as a black male, 40 years of age, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, 140 to 170 pounds, and clean-shaven. He was wearing a medium-length tan winter jacket. The victim could not provide a detailed description of the second suspect.

Because this incident did not occur on University property, the Cambridge Police Department (CPD) is investigating. However, both CPD and HUPD are working aggressively to find the persons responsible and will continue to deploy both uniformed and plainclothes officers to patrol areas that students frequently use.

If at any time you observe any suspicious activity, please notify HUPD at (617) 495-1212. Additionally, the department strongly encourages victims to report incidents as soon as possible after they occur. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Cambridge Police Department, Criminal Investigation Division, at (617) 349-3370.
