Police reports
Following are some of the incidents reported to the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) for the weeks beginning March 21 and ending April 3. The official log is located at 1033 Massachusetts Ave., sixth floor.
March 23: An officer observed an assault in progress. After a brief foot chase, the individual was apprehended and arrested at the Old Cambridge Baptist Church for assault with a dangerous weapon and threat to commit crime. A motor vehicle was reported stolen at the Grant Street lot. Officers assisted the Cambridge Police Department (CPD) at 59 Mt. Auburn St. on a report of an assault.
March 24: At Loker Commons, officers conducted a field interview. After the individual began to yell, the officers took the individual into custody for disorderly conduct and trespassing. An officer was dispatched to the School of Public Health, Building 2, to take a report of a past assault. The officer reported an individual known to the reporting person had pushed them. A report was filed. A TV/DVD/VCR player was reported stolen at the Bunting Institute. Vandalism to some periodicals was reported at Widener Library. A computer was reported stolen at Gund Hall.
March 25: An officer took a report of check fraud at the Medical School, Building C1. Vending machines were reported burglarized at International Legal Studies. A suspicious letter was received at Byerly Hall.
March 26: An officer was dispatched to University Health Services to take a report of a stolen credit card and its fraudulent use. A cell phone and coat were reported stolen at the Science Center. An individual known to HUPD as having an outstanding warrant was taken into custody at 1400 Massachusetts Ave.
March 27: A past larceny of cash was reported at 14 Story St.
March 28: Copper bars and cabling were reported stolen at 77 Avenue Louis Pasteur.
March 29: In the area of Banks and Surrey streets, officers assisted CPD in the search for robbery suspects.
April 2: A credit card was reported stolen at the Harvard College Fund. Cash was reported stolen at the School of Public Health, Building 2. An officer was dispatched to the stacks at Pusey Library to take a report of pages being taken out of books. Officers responded to a report of three individuals in the rear of the Loeb Drama Center possibly partaking in drugs. After conducting a field interview, officers arrested one individual who had an outstanding warrant.
Since March 21, one backpack, two bicycles, one digital music player, two laptops, one personal digital assistant, two projectors, and two wallets have been reported stolen. Two reports of harassment have also been filed.
