Police reports

Following are some of the incidents reported to the Harvard University Police Department for the week ending Jan. 10. The official log is located at 1033 Massachusetts Ave., sixth floor.

Jan. 5: An officer was dispatched to Hauser Hall to take a report of threats received via voicemail during the holiday break. An officer was dispatched to the Pound Building to take a report of a suspicious package containing various media clippings. The officer impounded the package. An officer was dispatched to the Kennedy School to take a report of a suspicious letter. The letter contained photocopied news articles. The letter was impounded. Clothing was reported stolen from a locker at Tosteson Medical Education Center. An officer was dispatched to Hauser Hall to take a report of a suspicious letter. The officer reports that the letter contained text and pictorial documents. The letter was impounded.

Jan. 6: Officers were dispatched to Mather House on a report of a fire alarm. University Operations reported that the janitor closet was accessed and that water left running caused the alarm. In addition, a fire extinguisher was discharged and a recycle sign was taken off the wall. Tools were reported stolen at Goldenson Building 1. An officer was dispatched to 18 Sumner Road lot to take a report of a chair and boots that were taken from a trailer in the lot. An officer was dispatched to Claverly Hall to take a report of clothing and CDs taken sometime during the winter break.

Jan. 7: An officer was dispatched to 2 Peabody Terrace to take a report of credit card fraud. At Holmes Hall, an ATM card was reported stolen and used fraudulently.

Jan. 8: An officer took a report of suspicious e-mail at Dunster House. An officer was dispatched to 60 Oxford St. on a report of a vehicle leaking gasoline. The Cambridge Fire Department responded and sprayed solution to neutralize the gas. The car’s owner was then authorized to tow the vehicle.

Jan. 9: At the Holyoke Center ramp, officers investigating suspicious behavior conducted a field interview of two individuals. One subject was placed under arrest for indecent exposure, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest. The second subject was sent on their way. Writing on a door was reported at Leverett House.

Jan. 10: An officer responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle in the area of Putnam Avenue. The Cambridge Police Department was notified.

Since Jan. 4, two laptops and one purse have been reported stolen. There have been four reports of harassing phone calls.
