The Cambridge Housing Assistance Fund (CHAF) generated more than $150,000 at its fifth annual Benefit Concert held at Sanders Theatre last Friday night (Oct. 3). The funds are earmarked to help homeless Cambridge residents transition into affordable housing.

Annually hosted by Harvard University, the concert featured jazz and blues diva and former Cambridge resident Nnenna Freelon and drew more than 1,000 Cambridge residents and supporters of CHAF.

CHAF is a broad-based community coalition of Cambridge Realtors, banks, businesses, institutions, individuals, and community leaders that are working together to break the cycle of homelessness. Since its inception in 1999, CHAF has raised more than $440,000, which has helped open 400 homes to the homeless.
