1 min read

Harvard workers will take center stage today (Sept. 18) when Robert Putnam, the Peter and Isabel Malkin Professor of Public Policy, will discuss his new book, “Better Together: Restoring the American Community,” (Simon & Schuster, 2003) with co-author Lewis Feldstein, at 6 p.m. at Askwith Hall.

A follow-up to Putnam’s national best seller “Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community,” “Better Together” describes how all across America people are trying to revitalize civic spirit. The book features a chapter on the Harvard Union of Technical and Clerical Workers (HUTCW), citing the union as one such organization revitalizing civic spirit.

The event, co-sponsored by the Harvard Bookstore and the Askwith Education Forum, is free and open to the public.
