Advice sought as Corporation search begins

1 min read

As the search begins for a successor to Robert G. Stone Jr., who earlier announced plans to step down as a Fellow of Harvard College on June 30, 2002, members of the University community are invited to offer nominations and advice regarding the selection of a new member of the Harvard Corporation.

Letters should be directed to the Corporation Search Committee, Loeb House, 17 Quincy St., Cambridge, MA 02138. Messages may also be sent, by e-mail, to corporationsearch@harvard.edu.

Under Harvard’s charter, a new member of the Corporation is elected by the President and Fellows with the counsel and consent of the Board of Overseers.

The search committee consists of Corporation members James R. Houghton (chair), D. Ronald Daniel, and Hanna Holborn Gray; Overseers Richard E. Oldenburg and Thomas S. Williamson Jr.; and President Lawrence H. Summers.

The seven-member Corporation, formally known as the President and Fellows of Harvard College, is the smaller of the University’s two governing boards.
