The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee has selected Indianapolis, Boston, and Cleveland as the sites for the 2005, 2006, and 2007 NCAA Women’s Final Fours, respectively.

The 2006 Women’s Final Four is slated for March 31 and April 2 at the FleetCenter (capacity 18,560). Harvard, Northeastern, and the Massachusetts Sports Partnership will serve as the hosts. That year’s championship will mark a major milestone in NCAA history as it will be the event’s 25th anniversary.

Boston, the nation’s sixth-largest media market, has experienced tremendous success in attracting premier sporting events and in recent years has hosted the Ryder Cup, NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Frozen Four, the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, and the McDonald’s Basketball High School All-American Game.

A recent report in the Sports Business Journal stated that the NCAA Women’s Final Four has a $25 million impact on the host community, placing it among the most sought after events in the country.
