2000-01 directories to be distributed in November

The 2000-01 Directory of Faculty, Professional and Administrative Staff will automatically be distributed to teaching faculty and all administrative and professional staff, as well as all emeriti, starting in late November. If you do not fall under any of the above categories, and need a copy, please send your written request to Directory Order, Office of Human Resources, IMS, Holyoke Center 639, Holyoke Center Mail Area H0537, by mail, or fax (617) 495-0767.

The following information is required: name, University ID number, office address, and telephone extension. Without this information, requests cannot be fulfilled.

To avoid duplicate orders, please do not send in a request if you expect to receive a copy automatically or if you have already submitted an order.

Changes of address, name, or title should be directed to the Payroll Office, 359 Holyoke Center or by e-mail at payroll@harvard.edu. Name, University ID number, old address, and new address must be provided for changes.

Harvard Course in Reading and Study Strategies offered

Through readings, films, and classroom exercises, students in the Harvard Course in Reading and Study Strategies learn to read more purposively, selectively, and with greater speed and comprehension. This class meets for one hour per day over a period of a few weeks. The fall sessions will be held Oct. 2 through Oct. 20, Monday through Friday, 8-9 a.m. and Oct. 16 through Nov. 15, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 4-5 p.m. The course cost is $150.To register, contact the Bureau of Study Counsel at 5 Linden St. or call (617) 495-2581 for more information.

Trade show free for students

Internet Industry Magazine will host NetVenture2000, a computer industry trade show Oct. 4-6 at the World Trade Center, Boston. More than 100 companies will exhibit their products and services. Several keynote speakers, including Howard Jonas, CEO and chairman, IDT Corp, will address a wide range of topics and trends in wireless technologies, service provider regulations, Web hosting, and more. Interested students can register on-site at the World Trade Center by presenting a valid student ID, or online at www.netventure2000.net.
