To direct all of School’s development, alumni relations efforts

Hannah Peters has been named the associate dean for external relations at the Graduate School of Design (GSD), Dean Alan Altshuler recently announced. The appointment became effective Sept. 9. Peters comes to GSD from the Harvard Business School (HBS), where, since 1999, she has served as a member of the development leadership team working on the School’s recently completed capital campaign.

In her new role, Peters will direct all of GSD’s development and alumni relations efforts, working closely with the dean, the faculty, the alumni council, and the School’s leading benefactors. She will oversee GSD publications and other public communications activities directed to external audiences. These alumni and communication efforts will be particularly salient challenges in the years ahead as Harvard prepares to launch a much-anticipated new capital campaign.

During her years at HBS, Peters served initially as director of corporate relations and more recently as director of corporate and donor relations, with responsibility for stewardship of the School’s top donors as well as financial aid and professorship donors. Her previous positions include director of corporate and foundation relations at the New England Medical Center and director of corporate relations at Stanford University’s School of Engineering. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and has a master’s degree in international affairs, with a concentration in media and communications, from Columbia University.
