Two administrators join Summer School
The Harvard Summer School has announced the addition of two new administrators. Robert A. Lue has a joint appointment as dean of the Harvard Summer School and his appointment as senior lecturer on molecular and cellular biology and executive director of undergraduate education in Molecular and Cellular Biology in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. William J. Holinger, director of Teachers as Scholars, has been named director of the Harvard Secondary School Program.
Nan Laird is named Norwood Award winner
The Department of Biostatistics at the University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB), has named Nan M. Laird, professor of biostatistics at the School of Public Health, the recipient of this year’s Janet L. Norwood Award. The award, which includes a $5,000 prize, recognizes outstanding achievements by a woman in the statistical sciences. Laird will receive the award on Oct. 10 at UAB, where she will also deliver a lecture.
Herzlinger makes power list
This month’s issue of Modern Healthcare magazine has named Regina E. Herzlinger, the Nancy R. McPherson Professor of Business Administration, to its “100 Most Powerful” list. Herzlinger is the author of “Market-Driven Health Care” (Perseus Paperback, 1999), and the forthcoming “Consumer-Driven Health Care” and “Prophets of Change,” both by Jossey-Bass Publishing.
