Papers sought for graduate student conference
The 19th Annual Graduate Student Conference, to be held at Columbia University March 7-9, is currently seeking papers addressing issues of identity in modern Europe as reflected in politics, economics, literature and languages, history, law, and the arts. Only original works from students enrolled in a degree-granting or professional school program will be considered for selection. Papers should be 20 to 35 pages in length and must be submitted via e-mail attachment in Microsoft Word format to email@example.com by Jan. 15.

Silent auction at CfA offers unique items
The Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) is holding its first silent auction on Friday, Dec. 7, at 8 p.m. at Phillips Auditorium. Proceeds from the auction will benefit CfA’s education and outreach programs. The auction will feature some one-of-a-kind items and opportunities, including a trip for two to Tucson, Ariz., for a five-day astronomy program at Mount Hopkins Observatory.
Holiday sale at Harvard art museums gift shop
The Harvard University Art Museums (HUAM) gift shop, located in the Fogg Art Museum at 32 Quincy St., is having a holiday sale throughout the month of December. All purchases are 10 percent off with a valid Harvard staff or student ID. The gift shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 4:45 p.m.
