Kokkalis Program Offers Travel Grants, Seeks Scholars

The Kokkalis Program on Southeastern and East-Central Europe will award travel grants to students seeking to work or pursue research in the region of its focus during the summer of 2000. Harvard students are strongly encouraged to apply. Submit a proposal/statement of purpose, a CV and one letter of recommendation by March 31 to the Kokkalis_Program@ksg.harvard.edu. The program is also seeking accomplished scholars, senior level policy-makers and practitioners from its region of focus to serve as Kokkalis Scholars for 3-9 month periods during the 2000-2001 academic year at the Kennedy School of Government. Scholars will take up residence at the Kennedy School to pursue a research project of his or her own choosing and will be required to produce a paper by the end of his/her tenure. Scholars should demonstrate leadership in their fields, a background of high accomplishment, as well as the potential for future achievement. Kokkalis Scholars will have access to all Harvard facilities, including libraries, seminars and classes, an office for research and writing purposes, and will receive a stipend to cover living expenses.
