University urges commuters to LOOK
Harvard University Transportation Services, the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD), and the Cambridge Police Department (CPD) have launched an educational initiative to provide motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians with important tools for staying safe.
The LOOK campaign provides specific safety messages for pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers, so that these three groups can co-exist safely within the same environment. This week, staff from HUPD and Transportation Services will periodically be stationed at high traffic conflict areas around campus, promoting safety messaging and providing incentives for those demonstrating safe behavior. These incentives include free helmets, Zipcar driving credit, and Hubway annual memberships. In addition, thousands of LOOK stickers will be distributed to motorists over the coming weeks designed to combat “dooring”and increase awareness of vehicular surroundings.
