1 min read

Laure Lebret, former associate professor of orthodontics at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, died on Aug. 23 at the age of 92.

Born in Villejuif, France, Lebret initially began in pharmaceutical studies intending to take over her father’s apothecary. She later decided to turn to a dental medicine career at a time when there were very few women in the field, and she earned a Ph.D. in dental medicine from Harvard in 1969.

She is survived by her daughter and two grandchildren.

A memorial service to honor Lebret will be held later in the fall to mark what would have been the 59th anniversary of her arrival in the United States.
