Police reports
Following are some of the incidents reported to the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) for the week ending Oct. 1. The official log is located at 1033 Massachusetts Ave., sixth floor, and is available online at http://www.hupd.harvard.edu/.
Sept. 27: An unattended hanging parking pass was reported stolen from the lot at 21 Oxford St. Cash in the amount of $50 was reported stolen from an unattended purse at 124 Mt. Auburn St. Two bicycle tires were reported slashed at the Engineering Sciences Laboratory. Officers observed an individual known to them at JFK Park. A field interview was conducted and the individual was run for warrants with positive results before being placed under arrest. An officer was dispatched to Mather House Tower to extinguish a barrel that was smoking.
Sept. 28: An unsecured ID card was reported stolen from the Science Center.
Sept. 29: A hat valued at $75 was reported stolen at Sever Hall.
Sept. 30: Officers were dispatched to Cabot House to take a report of an attempted theft. The officers observed pry marks around the doorknob, and the locking mechanism disassembled when the door was opened. The reporting individual stated that nothing was missing from their room. Officers observed an individual run through a crowd yelling obscenities, flailing their arms, and swinging their backpack. The individual then jumped on the back of a parked motor vehicle. During a field interview, the officers determined that the vehicle belonged to the individual’s parent. As the individual continued to become more belligerent, officers placed the person under arrest for disorderly conduct.
Oct. 1: A package containing slippers valued at $50 was reported stolen at Peabody Terrace. At 45 Shattuck St., cash in the amount of $20 was reported missing from a wallet that had been stolen and later recovered. At Hemenway Gym, officers arrested a suspicious individual for furnishing a false name, trespassing, and warrant service. Harassing phone calls were reported received at Cabot House.
