2 min read

The Harvard Foundation will present its 2007 Faculty/Administrator Award to Jeremy R. Knowles, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Amory Houghton Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, at the annual Harvard Foundation Student/Faculty Awards dinner on Friday (May 4). Knowles will be honored for his years of support of the Harvard Foundation and its mission to improve intercultural and racial understanding at Harvard.

“Dean Knowles has been an ardent supporter of the work of the Harvard Foundation since his first years as dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in the 1990s,” said S. Allen Counter, director of the Harvard Foundation. “His willingness to meet with students of different ethnic backgrounds to discuss their concerns, and the eloquence and civility that he brought to those discussions was always helpful to us in resolving issues and conflicts in a manner that was agreeable to all parties. The students and faculty of the Harvard Foundation are proud to recognize his contributions and to honor his fine example.”

In addition, more than 40 students who have been recommended by their House masters and deans for their contributions to the intercultural life of Harvard College will be given Harvard Foundation Leadership Awards. The reception, dinner, and awards ceremony will be held in the Quincy House dining room at 5:30 p.m. in memory of David S. Aloian, former Quincy House master. The event is open to all members of the Harvard community.
