The Office of the Dean for Academic and Clinical Programs at Harvard Medical School (HMS) has announced a new fellowship available to HMS faculty and postdoctoral students. The LAM Treatment Alliance Folkman Fellowship is dedicated to the late M. Judah Folkman, who initiated the LAM Fellowship specifically for postdoctoral trainees at the School and affiliated hospitals.

A two-year fellowship is available in basic, clinical, or translational research that advances the mission of finding an effective treatment for lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM).

Candidates are encouraged to draw from their training in pulmonary medicine, cancer biology, endocrinology, molecular biology, biochemical engineering, molecular imaging, and immunology.

The application deadline is May 1.  For more information, contact stacy_mcgrath@hms.harvard.edu.

AUCTION BENEFITS LOCAL NONPROFITS

The Memorial Church will hold its third annual charity auction to benefit the grants committee on April 17. The event will be held at the Sheraton Commander Hotel (across from the Cambridge Common) beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Included among the silent and live auction items are a dinner party hosted by the Rev. Professor Peter J. Gomes, tickets to sporting events, an intimate candlelit feast with live entertainment on the south porch of the Memorial Church, and gift certificates to area restaurants. All proceeds will benefit local nonprofit groups.

Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served. Additionally, there will be bar specials and performances by some of Harvard’s top musicians.
