Women golfers smash records at Dartmouth Invite
Sophomore golfer Emily Balmert ’09 paced the Harvard women to a record-breaking outing and a first-place finish (out of 17 teams) at the Dartmouth Invitational this past weekend (Sept. 16-17) at Hanover Country Club. The Crimson’s first-round team total of 297 strokes marked the first sub-300 score in school history, while Harvard’s final count of 599 broke the team’s 36-hole record by 30 strokes. Three other Crimson golfers joined Balmert (who shot a 145 after two days) to place among the top 10 finishers, including freshmen Sarah Harvey (147) and Claire Sheldon (153), and sophomore Ali Bode (154). The women return to the links Sept. 23-24 for the Princeton Invitational.
Freshmen lift soccer past Vermont

Matt Hoff ’10 netted the equalizer for Harvard on a penalty kick at the 68:56 mark of the second half, before Brian Grimm ’10 scored the game-winning header just two minutes into overtime. The Crimson improve to 5-2-0 (0-0-0 Ivy) with the win.
