Juvenile sketchers sought

Beginning in September, the Harvard University Art Museums (HUAM) will present “Sketching After School” — a weekly drawing series for young people between the ages of 8 and 12. Artist and educator Deborah Putnoi, who has degrees from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and Tufts University, will lead the sketching activities.

The hour-long sketching sessions will meet in the Fogg Art Museum’s Calderwood Courtyard each Thursday (beginning Sept. 14) at 3:30 p.m. The opening session will run Sept. 14, 21, and 28, while the second session runs Oct. 5, 12, and 19. The cost is $25 ($20 for HUAM members) for three afternoons.

Participants will also have free access to all the galleries of HUAM. Paper and sketching pencils will be provided.

Registration and payment is required by Sept. 8, as space is limited (participants may register for one series only).

To enroll in ‘Sketching After School,’ call Susannah Hutchison at (617) 496-8576. The opening session kicks off Sept. 14. All payments are due by Sept. 8.
