Lagemann presentation to accompany PDK ceremony

Harvard Graduate School of Education Dean Ellen Condliffe Lagemann will speak to members of Harvard’s Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) chapter on May 19 at 5:30 p.m. in the Askwith Auditorium, Longfellow Hall, as part of the group’s induction ceremony. Lagemann will discuss “The Subjective Necessity of Being and Becoming an Historian of Education.”

MAC event to combat youth obesity

With childhood obesity on the rise, the Malkin Athletic Center (MAC) is sponsoring an evening of family games and exercise for members of the University community and their families on April 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. The gym will be divided into different playground-style games, with an area dedicated to fitness testing. Kid-friendly nutritious recipes will also be on hand.

The event – open to all Harvard ID holders and their guests – is suggested for children in grades 1-6, though all are welcome. The MAC asks that all families interested in attending register by phone at (617) 496-8553, or via e-mail (Karen Torres at heminfo@fas.harvard.edu).

Extension School library to close beginning May 28

The Harvard Extension School’s Grossman Library will be closed beginning May 28 while Sever Hall undergoes major renovations. The library will reopen Sept. 19 in time for fall classes.
