Eight groups receive new Team Achievement Award

With a trumpet’s fanfare, a custom-made video, the gracious words of outgoing President Neil L. Rudenstine, and a catered bash with a live band, Harvard honored its “heroes” on June 13 in Sanders Theatre. In a ceremony attended by, in addition to President Rudenstine, Provost Harvey L. Fineberg and the vice presidents and directors of the Heroes’ departments, 43 Central Administration staffers were officially recognized individually as Harvard Heroes. The Heroes are honored for leadership, teamwork, adaptability, and work that exceeds expectations.

In addition to the individual staff honors, a new award joined the tradition this year – the Team Achievement Award, which recognized work by closely connected groups within Central Administration. Team awards for 2001 went to eight such groups.
