Second annual College Conversations at the Ed Portal

1 min read

Local families recently attended the second annual College Conversations event at the Harvard Ed Portal, where they were joined by Harvard College undergraduate panelists and Harvard Admissions counselors who helped lead a workshop.

Members of the Cambridge Housing Authority also led a workshop for teens on Goal Mapping, where they were encouraged to think critically about their goals and outline practical steps to actualize their long term postsecondary school plans.

Janim Sayles, Assistant Director of the Achieve program at the Noble and Greenough School, gave the keynote presentation to families. She spoke about her experience as a first generation college student, saying, “so you see, it’s ok if you’re the first in your family to go to college, or if you don’t have too much money, and it’s even okay if you’re not sure what you want to do when you grow up. What’s important is that you work really hard.”
