For more than a century, the arrival of spring in Boston has been affectionately linked with the peak blooming time of the world-renowned Lilac Collection at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. On May 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Arboretum invites flower lovers of all ages to absorb the wonderful sights and scents of the season at the 106th annual celebration of Lilac Sunday.

A premier horticultural event in New England, Lilac Sunday showcases Boston’s unique learning landscape in flower and offers fun, outdoor explorations for the entire family. Festivities include ongoing tours of the Arboretum’s lilacs and other key collections, children’s activities, displays, and demonstrations. A consortium of a dozen food vendors organized by Food Truck Festivals of New England will be on site offering a wide variety of menu options from 11am to 3pm, and picnicking is allowed at the Arboretum on this special day only.
