Winter storm update: Modified scheduling and staffing plans
In response to the winter storm moving through the area, many Schools will either be canceling classes or operating on modified schedules on Wednesday. Students, faculty, and staff should check their local School’s website or other communications for weather-related updates and announcements.
Harvard’s Central Administration (Cambridge/Allston campus) has adjusted its employee staffing plan for Wednesday. This plan will allow the University to maintain essential operations, provide staff with more flexibility to perform their duties, and help ensure the safety of the Harvard community.
Employees designated:
- Essential/critical to the continued operation of the University are required to perform their job functions as scheduled throughout the duration of this weather event.
- Essential/critical to the continued operation of the University, but who can perform their functions from home, are strongly encouraged to do so.
- Non-essential/non-critical to the continued operation of the University are not required to report to work, but will be paid.
Any employee in Central Administration who is altering their normal schedule, or who is uncertain about their essential/critical designation, should contact their supervisor. Examples of essential/critical job functions are those that directly support campus operations, physical resources, life safety, health services, public safety and emergency response, and dining services.
Employees who are required to work are encouraged to closely monitor the weather situation, take all necessary precautions while traveling, and keep in mind that personal safety is most important.
