Harvard increases T-Pass subsidy for all riders

1 min read

After careful evaluation, Harvard Transportation Services recommended and gained approval to provide all monthly transit passes at a 50 percent discount, beginning Jan. 1. This policy change equalizes the subsidy amount for bus, subway and commuter rail users, and softens the impact of the MBTA fare increase for many users.

Other MBTA Pass program changes:

• Subway, Combo, and Combo Plus pass holders will be automatically converted to the monthly MBTA LinkPass, allowing free transfers between the bus and rapid transit system

• A CharlieCard will be issued to all monthly pass holders, with the exception of those using the commuter rail, express bus, or ferry (The Commuter Rail System is scheduled to accept Charlie Cards later in 2007)

Opportunities to air your questions about the changes include a live HARVie chat on Dec. 6 at noon (visit www.harvie.harvard.edu) and an information session at the Longwood Medical Area today (Nov. 30) between noon and 1 p.m. at the Armenise Amphitheater, Harvard Medical School.t-pass subsidy chart
