HHMI awards renewal grant to Harvard professor

Maria Moors Cabot Professor of Biology Richard Losick recently joined seven other professors nationwide in receiving renewal grants from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). The renewal grants will help to support the professors’ ongoing efforts to stimulate and sustain undergraduate interest in science.
“The scientists whom we have selected are true pioneers – not only in their research, but in their creative approaches and dedication to teaching,” said Thomas R. Cech, HHMI president. “We are hopeful that their educational experiments will energize undergraduate science education throughout the nation.”

‘Military Power’ awarded annual Huntington Prize

The Huntington Prize Committee recently awarded the Huntington Prize to Stephen D. Biddle, senior fellow for defense policy at the Council on Foreign Relations, for his book “Military Power: Explaining Victory and Defeat in Modern Battle.”

Established in 2000 by students and friends of Samuel P. Huntington, the Albert J. Weatherhead University Professor, the $10,000 prize is awarded annually to the best book in the field of national security studies.
