RMO’s new records schedule for Museums
The Records Management Office (RMO) of the Harvard University Library has announced that the General Records Schedule, Supplement 2, “Museums,” is now available. The supplement was approved on Dec. 11, 2002, under authority of a Corporation vote that requires schedules for all University records and governs records commonly held by museums throughout the University. The “Museums” schedule is to be used in conjunction with Harvard’s larger General Records Schedule, and together they constitute a common standard at Harvard for records retention and identify records with permanent value. The schedules are evolving documents: Updates are issued as required and user comments are solicited.
These schedules are available at http://hul.harvard.edu/rmo. Print versions are available from the Records Management Office.
For questions about the content, application, or implementation of the General Records Schedule or its “Libraries and Archives” and “Museums” supplements, contact the Records Management Office at (617) 495-5961, or e-mail rmo@hulmail.harvard.edu.
