HLS summer internship

The Human Rights Program at Harvard Law School (HLS) is sponsoring a summer internship in India involving labor rights in the informal sector. Potential candidates, particularly J.D. students with an interest in the field, should contact Peter Rosenblum at prosenbl@law.harvard.edu.

Latin American internships

The David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies will hold an information meeting for those interested in learning more about finding internships in Latin America or funding internships with grants from the center. The meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 3, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Eliot House Junior Common Room. Refreshments will be provided. Open classes at Countway

Throughout December, the Medical Schools Countway Library will host several open-enrollment educational opportunities. The one-hour classes, which are limited to 16 students, are held in computer classroom 204. The schedule includes classes on using Lexis-Nexis (Monday, Dec. 3 at 1:30 p.m.), on how to use the National Library of Medicines Interface to MEDLINE and HealthSTAR (Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m.), and a class on the vocabulary and philosophy of searching MEDLINE (Thursday, Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m.). Graduate student workshop

Graduate students are invited to submit applications for a spring 2002 workshop at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies on the rise and impact of the social sciences. The workshop, which will be held Thursday, April 11, and Friday, April 12, will bring together leading scholars and graduate students working on the history of the social sciences in the European context.

Participants are asked to submit a 15- to 20-page paper based on their doctoral research. Interested candidates should submit six copies of an application including a curriculum vitae, a 1,000-word summary of dissertation research, and a 300-word abstract proposing a workshop paper. The application deadline is Monday, Dec. 3.
