Hearing to explore campus wage issues

1 min read

Members of the Harvard community can air their views on the economic welfare of the University’s lowest-paid employees at a public hearing set for Oct. 22 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government’s ARCO Forum.

The public forum, to be held before the Harvard Committee on Employment and Contracting Policies (HCECP), is part of the committee’s information-gathering process as it examines wage and benefit issues concerning the Harvard workforce prior to drafting its report to President Lawrence H. Summers.

Through the fall, members of the Harvard community have been able to find information about and comment on the committee’s work through its Web page, http://www.hcecp.harvard.edu.

The report is due Dec. 19.

HCECP, headed by economics Professor Lawrence Katz, includes students, faculty, union representatives, and administrators. All members of the Harvard community are invited to attend the forum, which is scheduled to run from 6 to 8 p.m.
