Faculty Council Notice for April 25

At its 13th meeting of the year, the Council discussed a proposed new “Certification and Disclosure Statement” for researchers applying for or receiving support from the National Science Foundation and Public Health Service. Dean Paul C. Martin (DEAS and Physics) and Professor James Alt (Government) made the presentation to the Council on behalf of the Faculty’s Committee on Research Policy. In addition, the Council also discussed a draft of proposed “Principles Governing Commercial Partnerships Between the University and Outside Organizations.”

In other business, the Council voted to endorse the proposed Extension School Courses for 2001-02 and to approve a change in the name of the Council on East Asian Studies, a standing committee of the Faculty. It will henceforth be called the Council on Asian Studies. Finally, Dean Jeremy R. Knowles briefed the Council on the situation at Massachusetts Hall.

The last full Faculty Meeting of the academic year will be on May 15. The next Faculty Council meeting is on May 9.
