A nonspeaking, walk-on role in the season finale of the new hot TV show The West Wing, lunch with NBC anchorman Tom Brokaw, a hike on the East Boston Greenway with Boston Mayor Tom Menino, a day shadowing U.S. Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., and lunch with the Rev. Jesse Jackson. These items are up for bid at this year’s annual Student Internship Fund Auction at the Kennedy School of Government this evening (Feb. 10) at 7 p.m. in the ARCO Forum of Public Affairs.

The Fund provides stipends of up to $3,500 to students who spend the summer between the first and second years of their master’s degree program working for nonprofit or public organizations that lack funding for salaries but can benefit from the students’ skills.

The auction will also have an interactive video link from the Kennedy School’s Washington, D.C., site to the auction in Cambridge. Alumni and others will view the auction on screen in Washington and submit real-time bids to Cambridge.

Other auction items include: tea in the House of Lords in London, a week at the Enchanted Garden Resort & Spa in Jamaica, two economy-class tickets from New York to Singapore on Singapore Airlines, a private tour for eight people of Boston’s Big Dig, lunch with former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, a day shadowing Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez or Washington, D.C., Mayor Anthony Williams, and a tour of the West Wing of the White House.

The Summer Internship Fund is a student-run organization at the Kennedy School that enables students to work in public and nonprofit organizations.
