Introduction

As part of an ongoing effort to document Harvard’s global involvement, the Harvard News Office reported on a sampling of the myriad efforts by the University and its affiliated institutions to improve health around the world. We present here the story of programs in Haiti and Africa, where Harvard faculty members are working to improve rural health care and conduct research that guides governmental responses to AIDS. The faculty involved in these programs are among many affiliated with Harvard who work to gather data, generate new knowledge, learn, teach, and make life better for those who suffer.
