| In
a 1672 sermon, Thomas Shepard (A.B. 1653) bewailed the dearth
of lower-level preparatory institutions: "O that inferiour Schools
were every where so setled [sic] and encouraged as that the Colledge
(which the Lord hath made to be a Spring of Blessing to the Land)
might not now languish for want of a sufficient supply of young ones
from thence!" |
