Samantha Earp, who has served as interim executive director of HarvardX since July of last year, has been appointed executive director, effective immediately.

She reports to HarvardX Faculty Director Rob Lue, who is also professor of the practice of molecular and cellular biology and Richard L. Menschel Faculty Director of the Bok Center, and works closely with the HarvardX Research Committee co-chaired by Andrew Ho, associate professor at the Graduate School of Education, and Dan Levy, senior lecturer in public policy at the Kennedy School.

Earp will also have a dotted-line reporting relationship to Peter Bol, vice provost for advances in learning and Charles H. Carswell Professor of East Asian Languages and Civilizations, who oversees HarvardX, the HarvardX research effort, and the Harvard Initiative for Learning and Teaching (HILT).

During her time as interim executive director, Earp has played a key role in building the team that is carrying out HarvardX’s goals to build and create open online learning experiences for residential and online use and to enable pedagogical research, all while positioning HarvardX to provide better support for faculty interests and School strategic priorities.
