Scholar is the first Harvard professor to receive this distinction

Sheila Jasanoff, Pforzheimer Professor of Science and Technology Studies and director of the Program on Science, Technology, and Society at the Harvard Kennedy School, is the 2010-11 Sarton Chair in History of Science at Ghent University, Belgium. Jasanoff is the first Harvard scholar to receive this distinction. The chair honors the life and work of the late George Sarton, a pioneer in history of science who served on Harvard’s history of science faculty for many years. As this year’s Sarton chair, Jasanoff gave two lectures in Ghent on Oct. 27 and 28, which will be published in the annual journal Sartoniana.
