At its Sept. 15 meeting, the Faculty Council nominated a Parliamentarian, reviewed proposed changes to the Rules of Faculty Procedure, and heard a report from the Harvard University Retirement Plans Investment Committee.
The Council next meets on Sept. 29. The preliminary deadline for the Oct. 5 faculty meeting is Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m.
Harvard Heroes 2012
Harvard Heroes, the premier staff recognition program at Harvard, has been expanded to include staff University-wide. The 2012 Harvard Heroes Recognition Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 3:30 p.m. at Sander Theatre, Memorial Hall. You can learn more about Harvard Heroes on HARVie.
Long Term Care Insurance initial enrollment period ends May 25
The initial enrollment period for Long Term Care coverage with Genworth Life Insurance Company closes May 25, 2012. There is no medical underwriting if you are a benefits-eligible faculty or staff member, actively at work, under age 80 and apply during this initial enrollment period. Introduction to Excel
Full-day course covers creating and editing basic Excel 2007 worksheets and workbooks. Students learn how to navigate the Excel environment and create a basic worksheet, perform calculations, modify and format a worksheet, print workbooks, and manage large workbooks. Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Center for Workplace Development, 124 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge.

Futures @ Fenway 2012
The Boston Red Sox host the seventh annual Futures at Fenway – Minor League doubleheader at Fenway Park on Saturday, Aug. 18, beginning at 1:05 p.m. Game One will feature the Red Sox single-A affiliate Lowell Spinners vs. Hudson Valley Renegades from the Tampa Bay Rays. Game two will showcase the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox vs. Buffalo Bisons, an affiliate from the New York Mets. O&I has tickets.

Faculty Council meeting held Sept. 1
At its first meeting of the year on Sept. 1, the Faculty Council welcomed new members, reviewed history and policies, elected subcommittees for 2010-11, and discussed the work of the council in the new academic year.
