1 min read

Harvard economic historian Niall Ferguson’s four-part documentary, “The Ascent of Money” (2009), which examines the creation of the economic system by taking viewers on a global trek through the history of money, was named Best Documentary at the 37th International Emmy Awards in New York City on Nov. 23.

Ferguson, the Laurence A. Tisch Professor of History in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and William Ziegler Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, based the documentary on his best-selling book “The Ascent of Money: A Financial History of the World” (Penguin Press, 2008), which predicted the current economic crisis and was released within weeks of the meltdown of subprime loans.
