Senior forward Andre Akpan of the Harvard men’s soccer team was named Top Drawer Soccer National Player of the Week on Monday (Sept. 21) after his 2-goal, 1-assist effort against Fairfield on Saturday helped to help the Crimson move to a 5-0 record and a No. 6 Soccer America ranking on the season.

Akpan, who has tallied six goals and four assists in the Crimson’s first five games, needs just six goals to tie Chris Ohiri ’64, who is first all-time in Harvard history with 47 goals.

The talented striker, who is currently Harvard’s all-time assists and points leader, tallied 10 goals last season for the Crimson, and moving him into third place all-time.

The Crimson, who have outscored their opponents 15-2 so far this season, on Wednesday (Sept. 23) will travel to Durham, N.H., to face the University of New Hampshire Wildcats and to Winston-Salem, N.C., on Saturday (Sept. 26) to face the No. 2-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
