Will take helm of board of directors for fiscal year

The Board of Directors of Harvard Student Agencies, Inc. (HSA), has elected Abhishek Gupta ’04 as president for the upcoming fiscal year. He will begin his term Feb. 1, 2003, and he will lead the corporation for one year.

Gupta has been with HSA for more than two years, serving as assistant manager of Harvard Distribution Services, an on-campus marketing agency, and later as manager of Unofficial Publications, which publishes “The Unofficial Guide to Life at Harvard,” along with two other publications.

“Abhishek’s charisma, vision, and extensive experience in the corporation make him a perfect fit for the position. HSA is very fortunate to have Abhishek as its president during what promises to be an exciting year of growth,” said Bradley J. Olson ’03, current HSA president.

Gupta has selected fellow director Z. Anthony Ekmekjian ’03 to serve as his vice president. Ekmekjian joined the corporation in the past year, serving as manager of HSA Rentals.

“Anthony is a stellar leader with an eye for innovation. He produced incredible results as manager of HSA Rentals, and I have no doubt that he will build upon this success as vice president of the corporation,” said Olson.

Founded in 1957, HSA is the world’s largest student-run corporation, and encompasses 10 divisions, including The Harvard Shop, HSA Cleaners, the Harvard Bartending Course, and Let’s Go Publishing, which produces the series of best-selling budget travel guides. HSA employs over 800 Harvard students, generating more than $5 million last year in revenue.
