Matthew Desmond, the John L. Loeb Associate Professor of the Social Sciences, and Beth Stevens, an assistant professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School and neuroscientist at Boston Children’s Hospital, have been named MacArthur Fellows.

Elledge, the Gregor Mendel Professor of Genetics and of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, is being recognized with the Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award. The award is considered to be among the most respected in biomedicine.

Today President Drew Faust named Team Nucleik the grand prize winner of the Harvard University President’s Challenge for social entrepreneurship, hosted by the Harvard Innovation Lab (i-lab).
Harvard University President’s Challenge for social entrepreneurship has selected Vaxess Technologies, a company founded by Harvard students, to receive its grand prize. Vaxess Technologies will share the $100,000 to advance social ventures with SPOUTS of Water, Revolving Fund Pharmacy, and School Yourself.
The Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) has named Charles W. Collier, Ellen R. and Melvin J. Gordon, Harry L. Parker, and Susan S. Wallach the recipients of the 2012 Harvard Medal.
Kelsey Beck ’14 was crowned Miss Boston 2012. The Harvard student will compete in the Miss Massachusetts pageant June 29-30 in Worcester. In the meantime, she balances classes and extracurricular activities.
